Fighting Fear

Lent Day 4, Saturday, March 8

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

David trains himself in his very real battles with fear by remembering who God is and what He has done for him. He preaches truth to himself: the Lord is my light, my salvation, the stronghold of my life.

Look fear in the face. Look into the face of the Lord Jesus Christ. No comparison. Jesus Christ’s grip on you is stronger than fear’s. Allow Jesus to strongly hold you.

Ponder: Fears often magnify in the dark. How can you see the Lord as your light in the middle of your darkest fears?

Praise: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
