If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,”even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you. For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you. Psalm 139:11-18
Listen to Amy’s story behind her painting: "The boy in this painting is a skeptic—he knows how people are. They're kind when it serves their purpose. They do good when they’re sure it will make them look good. He's seen enough in his short life to know that trust is unwise—it makes fools out people. This boy is no one's fool. But something strange is happening at this moment. For the first time, the boy is certain he's seeing something good—truly good. The stars are so beautiful that they're breaking his heart. If there truly is good in this world, then he is undone. He's missed something. In protecting himself from being deceived by false things, he's deceived himself about true things. He is undone, and his life is about to begin."
Ponder: Where have you been “undone” by God’s wonderful works—in you as well as in the world around you? When you are fighting darkness in your life, consider even the darkness is not dark to the Lord.
Praise: You, child of God, are fearfully and wonderfully made. The night is as bright as day to the Lord.
