It's Time to Wake Up and Get Dressed

Gina Hurry

Lent Day 31, Wednesday, April 9

Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. Romans 13:11-14

It’s almost daylight. The darkness around us (self-imposed or imposed upon us) will break.  Are you ready to put on the Lord Jesus Christ?  Wake up, get dressed, and walk in the light. Salvation is near.

Amy Grimes explains her painting, “Lights in a Dark Forest.”  The world is a dark forest. The woods are wild and beautiful in the daylight. At night though, they can be full of the eerie unknown and laced with treacherous ground. We all go through these stretches of nighttime. At times we feel afraid of what comes next in the Dark Forest. Don't lose hope! If you look for light you will see it. Beauty and goodness—reflections of heaven—glow like fireflies or fairy lights in the dark. They are everywhere. God is everywhere, and we are not alone in the night!

Ponder:  Where do you need to wake up? To put on the Lord Jesus Christ? To remember that it’s almost daytime and you’re not alone in the night?

Praise:  The hour has come. Salvation is nearer to us than when we first believed.
