Lent Day 36, Tuesday, April 15
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 1 Peter 2:9-10
God has called out of darkness into his marvelous light. Why? Because of his mercies, because he chose you to be his people, and so you may praise him to others.
The Message says, “We are God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day differences he made for you, from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.” This is a call to be a community not to be alone.
Ponder: When you feel unseen, rejected, like a nobody, like you don’t belong, refocus on these truths: You are chosen, God’s own possession, living in his marvelous light and his mercy. You are not alone.
Praise: Now you have received mercy. Now you are God’s people. You are called into his marvelous light. Tell others about it.
