His Tender Mercies Break Through

Gina Hurry

Lent Day 25, Wednesday, April 2

"And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” And the child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness until the day of his public appearance to Israel. Luke 1:76-80

John the Baptist grew up in the wilderness, then appeared in public preparing the way for the coming “sunrise” when the Most High would die to save us from our sins.

God, in His tender mercies, guides our feet in the way of peace, giving light to those who sit in darkness.

Ponder:  What are you waiting for, sitting there in the dark?  Or are you just too afraid to move, to believe?  God’s light reaches in. His tender mercies reach out to you. The sunrise will come. God is faithful.

Praise: God gives light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death.
