Lent Day 23, Monday, March 30
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!" Matthew 6:19-23
Jesus Christ gives insight into your spiritual health in this passage. “Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a dank cellar. If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have!” The Message
Ponder: Do you wonder where your treasure is? Ask yourself what you most fear losing. How’s your vision? Are your eyes open wide in wonder and belief or squinty-eyed in greed and distrust?
Praise: Your treasures in heaven will never be destroyed or stolen. As you look to the Lord, you will be filled with light.
